A. Wing is a corporate and civic director and a professional
investor.
He was the Frank Wakely Gunsaulus Professor
of Law and Finance at the Illinois Institute of Technology
from 1987 to 2000. Prior
to this, he spent 17 years as the Chairman of the Board and
Chief Executive Officer of ABN-AMRO Incorporated, formerly
The Chicago Corporation. Mr. Wing joined The Chicago
Corporation as its CEO in 1981 and continued to lead the
firm following its merger with ABN-AMRO in January 1997. From
1999 to 2001 he was CEO of Market Liquidity Network, L.L.C.
Mr. Wing serves as a Trustee of Columbia
Acorn Funds and as a Director of First Chicago Bank and
Trust and its holding company. He is a Director of Ravinia Festival, a Director
and former Chairman of the Illinois Humanities Council and
a Director of Rush University Medical Center. Mr. Wing
is a Partner in Dancing Lion Partners.
After graduation from Union College in
1958 with a B.A. in Economics, Mr. Wing spent two years
in the U.S. Army before taking a position with the Securities
and Exchange Commissions (SEC). While working as a financial analyst for the
SEC, he attended George Washington University Law School
and earned his J.D. in 1963. In 2005, he received a
Masters of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Chicago.
Wing served as a trial attorney with
the SEC from 1963 to 1965. In l966, he joined Investors Diversified Services
in Minneapolis as Assistant to the President. In 1968,
Mr. Wing moved to Chicago to become the Vice President and
General Counsel of A. G. Becker & Co. From 1975 to 1980,
Mr. Wing was President of A. G. Becker & Co., a subsidiary
of The Becker Warburg Paribas Group. During this time,
Mr. Wing was Director of the Midwest Stock Exchange, Director
of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and Governor of the
National Association of Securities Dealers.
While at The Chicago Corporation, he
served as Chairman of the Board of the North Shore Country
Day School, member of the New York Stock Exchange Regional
Firms Committee, Director of the Securities Industry Association,
and Member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s special panel
to review trading rules and practices. He was a member
of the Board of Directors of the Futures Industry Association
from 1990-2000, and a member of the Board of Directors of
the National Futures Association from 1998-2000. From
1997 to 2001, Mr. Wing served as Chairman of the Board of
the Risk Management Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
In 2004, he was elected to the Futures Industry “ Hall
of Fame.”
