| Jay Pisula, a FOCUS Senior Advisor, has over thirty-five years of management experience in publicly held and venture capital backed emerging technology companies. His sector experience includes telecommunications equipment, storage and imaging software, and satellite ground station equipment. He has been the lead officer in eight transactions where he sold or divested divisions or subsidiaries. Jay also acquired two companies.
Currently, Mr. Pisula is an active advisor, mentor and Board of Directors member for several young high technology companies in the Mid Atlantic region. He also specializes in strategic planning and turn-around consulting. Mr. Pisula served as President and CEO of TSI TelSys Corp., a Columbia, Maryland publicly traded satellite ground station systems manufacturer for remote imaging applications. Prior to that, Mr. Pisula was President and CEO of Network Storage Solutions Inc., a Chantilly, Virginia manufacturer of network attached storage systems. He currently serves as either a Board Member or an Advisor to Syntonics LLC, Gigamedia Access Corp., Quintum Technologies Inc., and Forefront Inc.
Until May 1996, Mr. Pisula served as President of Network Imaging Corporation (now Treev), a software company that focuses on client-server enterprise multimedia information management systems. During his tenure at Network Imaging he implemented a focused strategy, divested seven operating units and recruited a new senior executive management team. From April 1993 until September 1994, he was the Chairman, President and CEO of Digital Transmission Systems, an Atlanta, Georgia telecommunications company that manufactures telecommunications line monitoring equipment and network access products. During his eighteen-month assignment, he restructured the company, implemented a new strategy, recruited new sales and marketing executives and a new CEO and prepared the company for an IPO, which occurred in March 1996. From 1988 to 1993, Mr. Pisula was President and CEO of Teleos Communications Inc., an Eatontown, New Jersey manufacturer of ISDN customer premise equipment. During his tenure, he raised over $18 million of venture capital, completed five strategic partnering agreements and positioned the company for an acquisition. Madge Networks NV acquired Teleos early in 1996.
Mr. Pisula has an MBA from the University of Rochester (1970) and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (1964).
