Timothy P. Johnson, a FOCUS Principal, has nearly a decade of financial advisory and investment banking experience focusing primarily on assisting clients achieve strategic objectives through mergers and acquisitions. His expertise includes identifying acquisition candidates, evaluating business plans, performing due diligence, determining valuation, negotiating agreements and structuring transactions for maximum client benefit. He has managed transactions in a wide spectrum of industries including: financial services, healthcare, technology, telecommunications, media, manufacturing, gaming and consumer products.

Prior to becoming a FOCUS Principal, Mr. Johnson was at New York City-based CIBC World Markets, specializing in complex merger and acquisition transactions in a multitude of industries. Also on Wall Street, Mr. Johnson gained valuable experience in the Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. Global Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

Previously, in the Washington, DC area, Mr. Johnson worked in Mergers and Acquisitions for Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co., Inc. where he sourced, structured, negotiated and executed merger and acquisition transactions. In addition to advising external clients, Mr. Johnson played a major role in FBR’s business development activities including the completion of the firm’s first major acquisition.

Mr. Johnson began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, working in the Financial Services Division of the Audit and Advisory Group where he provided accounting and consulting services to clients in a number of industries.

Mr. Johnson, a Certified Public Accountant, has an M.B.A. In Finance and a B.S. in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Maryland. He also has been a Guest Finance Lecturer at the Robert H. Smith Graduate School of Business, University of Maryland.
