William B. Contessa brings a wealth of business experience to FOCUS. He is a well-known innovator, investor and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the information and financial services industries.
Mr. Contessa has been responsible for the founding, development, and financing of numerous business ventures. His primary role in these activities has been that of originator, developer, financier and CEO. He has bought and sold companies and advised business owners on mergers, acquisitions and the development of growth and exit strategy. He is a member of The Alliance of Mergers and Acquisition Advisors and has been awarded the Certified Mergers and Acquisition Advisor designation from Loyola University in Chicago.
Prior to joining FOCUS, Mr. Contessa was founder and CEO of Mailsurity Systems, Inc., an image distribution software company. Earlier in his career, after leaving Xerox Corporation, he co-founded a leasing business dedicated to the leveraged-leasing of Xerox and IBM office equipment. Later he co-founded Laser Resources, Inc., where, as CEO, he pioneered the on-demand, distribute and print market. This company established the model for a total document management system, incorporating electronic document storage, indexing, on-line updating, and on-demand printing, finishing, and delivery of high-value printed documentation.
Mr. Contessa provided venture capital for a small start-up software developer in California called Elixir Technologies, Inc. Elixir produced the first reliable electronic forms creation system for the Xerox family of high volume digital printers. In addition to providing Elixir seed capital, he raised second round financing for the company and eventually sold his interest in Elixir to Xerox. Today, Elixir is a standard for the digital printing industry. After signing an agency contract with Business Mail Express, Mr. Contessa renewed a previous involvement with large scale data-to-mail and hybrid mail projects. He co-founded Document Network, Inc. (later, DocNet.com). In June of 1998, he purchased Docutronics from Moody’s Investor Services. He sold Docutronics to Primark and then sold Docnet.com to Virginia based Cadmus Communications. In 2005, he co-founded Equity Strategies Group which provided Exit Strategy Planning and M&A advice to the 2,100 Financial Planners of the Lincoln Financial Network.
Mr. Contessa is a graduate of Hofstra University.Contact Information:
