Dr. Christopher Morton, FOCUS Senior Advisor, has more than 25 years of entrepreneurial and corporate leadership experience in virtually all aspects of the communications industry, including both wireless and wire line applications. He has focused on developing ground-breaking new technology and using those innovations to create or enhance successful commercial companies.
As co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SkyCross, a leading antenna company serving the wireless device space, Dr. Morton led the company to multi-year high growth (greater than 50% per year), achieved trusted supplier status with multiple Tier 1 customers worldwide, and identified and led the acquisition of a Shanghai, China based company. Of equal importance, he led and contributed to the development and market introduction of iMAT, the company’s new breakthrough smart antenna technology that has won four high-profile industry awards.
Prior to joining SkyCross, he was Executive in Residence with MILCOM Technologies, where he oversaw the formation of new communications companies launched with aerospace technology. In addition to SkyCross, he and his partners created and sold a mesh networking company to Motorola and formed TelASIC, a software defined wireless infrastructure (base station) product company, where Dr. Morton was the initial CEO. In the course of developing new companies, he has raised more than $70M in capital from leading venture capital firms nationwide.
Dr. Morton has served in high-level executive positions with notable communications companies such as Lucent (General Manager, Integrated Access Products – access/network multiplexers and routers), and AT&T Bell Laboratories (Head, Communication System Performance and Design Laboratory).
He earned his Ph.D. in communication systems from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a national winner of the General Electric Doctoral Fellowship.
